This is a full listing of GED and HiSET prep class locations and testing facilities in the Savannah area. Georgia offers two options for High School Equivalency testing: the GED and HiSET exams.

The GED exam is fully computer-based, whereas the HiSET can be taken on either paper or computer. Both exams are available online and at certified testing centers.

You can study with a GED prep class at one of the facilities listed on this page or learn with an accredited online program, such as the online course created by Onsego GED Prep.

In earlier days, online GED or HiSET testing was not possible. You needed to come to an official Georgia test center in person, but that has all changed with the advent of online proctored GED and HiSET tests. For more information, we refer to the bottom of this post.

Savannah Tech’s Adult Education Program is serving adult learners who need to improve their written and oral English, basic literacy, and math skills, and study toward their GED diploma so they can get better jobs or go to college. STC offers morning, afternoon, and evening classes and also online instruction.

Additionally, the school offers the Fast Forward Career Plus HSE (High School Equivalency) program in which adults can earn a certificate in a high-demand field while simultaneously working toward a GED. Four Separate GED Subtests

The GED exam includes four independent subject tests that cover the academic areas of

• Language Arts
• Social Studies
• Math
• Science

The HiSET exam has separate reading and writing subtests, so five in total. You have the freedom to take one (or more) of the four GED or five HiSET subtests at a time and in your chosen order.

The GED and HiSET exams measure basic knowledge at a level that high school seniors must command upon graduation. The exams are quite challenging, and proper preparation is absolutely required.

Online GED and HiSET

In the past, to take the GED exam, you were required to show up in person at one of Georgia’s state-designated test centers. Online testing was just not offered.

But the introduction of online proctored GED and HiSET tests has changed all that. If you take the online GED or HiSET test, you will see an online proctor who will help you and ensure that you follow the regulations.

To be eligible for online GED testing, you first need to score “green” on the GED Ready test. All four GED sub-exams require you to pass the GED Ready test for that subject first, so that’s four of these tests overall.

One GED Ready test costs $7.99, and they are available on the website GED.com. Students with an Onsego Advantage Plan won’t have to buy the GED Ready tests. Their Advantage Plan already comes with four vouchers for the GED Ready test – That’s a great $32 bonus!
