Listed here are all GED® preparatory classes and testing facilities in the Salem area. Oregon uses the computer-formatted GED exam for the state’s high school equivalency (HSE) testing program.
GED testing can be done online and at state-recognized GED testing facilities.
The HSE testing program offers adults who could not finish high school the opportunity to acquire an equivalent degree.
The GED measures basic knowledge at a level that’s comparable to that of high school grads.
There are four individual GED subtests in Social Studies, Science, Math, and Literacy.
Testing takes place at a level that’s comparable to that of high school seniors upon graduation.
In the past, there was no online GED test. You were required to come to an official Oregon GED testing site.
Recently, though, this has all changed with the arrival of a new online GED testing option. Read more below.

Welcoming an online GED testing option
To secure your high school equivalency (HSE) credential, you were required to show up personally at one of Oregon’s state-approved GED test facilities. GED testing simply did not exist in an online format.
But that is now changing with the introduction of online proctored GED testing. If you want to read more about this interesting development, check out this page: ‘Welcoming an online GED testing option’.
