Listed here are all GED® (in New York: TASC™) prep class locations and testing facilities in the Plattsburgh area. New York State is using the TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) for high school equivalency (HSE) testing.
The HSE program is for adults who never completed high school and provides the chance to earn an equivalent degree.
The TASC exam measures academic proficiency at a level similar to that of HS students upon graduation.
The TASC exam includes five modular subtests in math, science, writing, reading, and social studies.
In New York, TASC testing is offered at no charge but only to state residents. The exam can be taken on-paper or on-computer.
The TASC modules (subtests) can be completed one at a time.

The TASC exam
CTB/McGraw-Hill is the leading American provider of assessment methods for adult education. Some years ago, the company introduced the TASC assessment system for high school equivalency testing. CTB has launched the TASC because many states showed their interest in a new (and more affordable than the GED) high school equivalency assessment program.
The TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) is aligned with the Common Core standards and is a very accessible and affordable quality program intended for the more than 40 million American adults who don’t have a secondary education degree. So New York State stopped using the GED for high school equivalency (HSE) testing and switched to the TASC exam.
