Four Independent GED Subtests

GED® testing is done through four independent subtests (separate modules) that assess proficiency in these academic subject fields:

• Math
• Science
• Social Studies
• Language

You can opt to sit for the four GED modules one at a time and in any chosen order. There’s no need to take it all in one testing session.

The GED exam measures knowledge and skills at a similar level to what is expected of graduating high school students.

The Online GED Test

In the past, there was no option to take the GED test via the Internet. If you wanted to acquire your Virginia GED degree, you always had to present yourself in person at one of Virginia’s state-approved, official GED testing centers.

Well, that has changed, as we witnessed the launch of an online GED test-taking option that allows qualifying students to sit for the four GED modules from the comfort of their homes.

Please note that if you are looking to take the GED exam online, you’ll first have to pass the GED Ready test on each GED subtest. That means you need to reach passing scores on four GED Ready tests. One GED Ready practice test $7.99, so that’s an additional $32 to your regular fees.
