It doesn’t matter when you left school.
The exam gives adults who never finished high school a chance to obtain an equivalent degree.
GED® testing is done through four independent subtests (modules) that assess proficiency in these academic subject fields:
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
- Language
You can opt to sit for the four GED modules one at a time. There’s no need to take it all in one testing session.

Launching Online Proctored GED Testing
In the past, there was no option to take the GED test via the Internet. If you wanted to acquire your Virginia GED degree, you always had to present yourself in person at one of Virginia’s state-approved, official GED testing centers.
Now, that has changed. Recently, we witnessed the launch of a new online GED test-taking option that allows qualifying students to sit for the four GED modules from the comfort of their homes.
An online proctor monitors the entire process and checks if everything goes in line with the rules. If you want to learn all about this great development, go to -> The introduction of the online proctored GED test.
