On this page, you can discover all GED® prep locations and testing facilities in the Myrtle Beach area. South Carolina uses the GED test for high school equivalency (HSE) testing.
GED testing is possible in an online format and at state-certified test centers.
The HSE program is for adults who left high school without a diploma and gives them the chance to earn an equivalent degree.
The GED has four independent modules (subtests) in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
You can take the GED modules one at a time. You don’t need to complete the GED battery in one take.
Until recently, GED testing was never offered over the internet but the launch of an online GED testing option has changed that. Read more below.

Your future
The diploma that you receive upon successful completion of the GED exam, is nationwide accepted as the equivalent of a standard high school degree by official institutions, recruiting agencies, employers, and schools. This website also offers help in the form of great and totally free online video lessons and practice tests.
For qualification requirements check out this page: South Carolina GED Testing Requirements.
GED vs. high school diplomaOn each of the four subtests, you need to attain at least a 145 score. The tests are measured on a 100-200 scale and there is no averaging! You have the option to take one or more GED subtests whenever you feel ready, and you only pay for the section(s) you register for.
Introducing an online GED testing option
In earlier days, taking the GED exam via the internet was never an option. If you wanted to earn your HSE (high school equivalency) degree, your personal appearance at one of South Carolina’s state-designated HSE testing centers was required.
Now, however, we saw the launch of the online proctored GED test, so that has changed. If you want to learn more, go to ‘Introducing the online proctored GED exam’.
