This post lists all HiSET and GED prep class locations and testing sites in the Manchester area. New Hampshire is using two options for high school equivalency testing: the GED and HiSET exams.
Both exams can be taken online or at one of New Hampshire’s official testing facilities. For information about online testing, check the bottom of this post.
Online GED Classes
A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.
This website provides online GED classes for free that can help you determine if an online course may be right for your GED preparation.
If online studying suits you well, we recommend proceeding with Onsego GED Prep, a preparatory course recognized by GED Testing Service as “Fully GED Test-Aligned.”
Some students, however, do better if they join one of the physical classes. So, if learning online is not your thing, contact a prep facility listed on this page.

What is on the GED Test
GED testing includes four individual, modular sub-exams that measure a student’s knowledge and skills in these subject fields:
- Math
- Science
- Language
- Social Studies
The HiSET comes with five modular subtests in English writing, English reading, social studies, math, and science.
The diploma that’s awarded upon successful completion of the GED or HiSET exam will surely lead to better job options, and it allows for a college education.

The diploma you will receive after successfully finishing the New Hampshire GED or HiSET exam is accepted in the same way as a standard high school diploma all across North America. This website offers you free online video lessons and practice tests to get you all set fast!
GED Scoring
Your GED scores are calibrated on a scale of 100 to 200. On each of the four sub-exams, the passing score is 145 points. The passing score ranges are:
- 145-164: high school equivalent score
- 165-174: college-ready score
- 175-200: college-ready PLUS up to 10 college credits score
HiSET Scoring
Your scores on the five HiSET subtests are measured on a 0-20 scale. On each subtest, the passing score is 8. Your overall result must be at least 45, and the score on your essay must be at least a 2 out of 6.
The GED and HiSET assessments give individuals who have never completed high school one more option to obtain an equivalent credential.
Testing is conducted at a level comparable to what high school seniors are expected to know upon graduation.
Online GED and HiSET Testing
Until a few years back, taking the New Hampshire GED or HiSET test was impossible; you had to come in person to an official state-approved testing center. Online testing was simply not available.
This has changed with the advent of online testing options called the ‘HiSET-Exam-At-Home’ and the OP (Online Proctored) GED Test.
For more information on the online HiSET program, go to Introducing the HiSET-At-Home exam. For more information about the Online Proctored GED test, check out this page.
If you’re thinking about taking the GED exam online, be aware that in that case, you’ll first have to attain green (passing) scores on the GED Ready official practice test, which costs $7.99 on GED.com.
There’s a GED Ready test for each GED sub-exam, so that makes four of these tests, setting you back $32 on top of the testing fees. Onsego students with an Advantage Plan will not have to buy these tests because their plans already include four GED Ready vouchers, a super $32 bonus!
