GED Classes Lexington, Kentucky

This post lists GED® prep class locations and testing sites in the Lexington region.

Kentucky uses the computer-formatted GED for high school equivalency (HSE) testing.

The HSE test gives people who couldn’t graduate high school one more option to secure an equivalent degree.

The GED exam comes with four individual tests, or modules, in the fields of math, science, literacy, and social studies.

You must pass the four tests within two years, no need to take it all in one session.

Testing is done at an official Kentucky GED testing site. Online testing is not available.

Online GED testing?

There is an increasing number of websites trying to make you believe that they can offer the GED tests (or the diploma) online. Beware that these sites are fraud and that you would be only wasting your money. These fake GED certificates are not even worth the paper they’re printed on, and will surely not be recognized by schools or employers.

To earn your GED credential you really need to take and pass the four GED (General Education Development) subtests at an official testing site. You need to show up in person and please don’t forget to bring proper identification. Check GED testing criteria in Kentucky for qualification requirements.

GED passing score

The Kentucky GED diploma is recognized as equivalent to a high school diploma by employers and schools all over the United States. Just two years after the latest GED version was rolled out across America, the passing score was reduced to 145 per subtest as it was clearly set too high initially. The full story can be read in this article. Check out also this page that has links to all US GED testing locations and prep course and you could benefit from this website’s free practice tests to help you earn your GED diploma fast.

*) Back on Track GED Program

Back on Track is a new cooperation between Jessamine Co. Adult Education and United Way of the Bluegrass aims to encourage adults for the GED program and to support young adults in getting a financial boost. The “Back on Track” program has combined financial bonuses for results on the GED program with a matching program provided by United Way.

Qualifying applicants in Jessamine Co. who are aged 18 through 21 who are meeting low-income criteria can earn $50 for good results in literacy and math, $100 if they pass the GED exam and $100 for securing a job when they are unemployed. Additionally, the “Back on Track” program aims to help students with their job placement efforts and career exploration. The “Back on Track” initiative will as well be implemented in Woodford, Scott, Clark, and Madison counties.
