The HiSET exam may be taken in an online format or at state-designated testing sites.

The exam offers adults without a high school diploma the opportunity to earn an equivalent degree.

The HiSET®, like the GED®, assesses knowledge at a level that’s comparable to that of graduating high school seniors.

The HiSET is offered in both a paper- and a computer-based version and includes five subtests. The subtests may be taken separately and cover the fields of

In the past, you could never take the HiSET exam via the Internet. You needed to report, in person, to one of Tennessee’s state-recognized HiSET testing centers.
