GED Classes Cleveland, Ohio

This is a complete listing of GED® prep sites and test centers in the Cleveland, Ohio, area.

Ohio is using the fully computerized GED exam for high school equivalency (HSE) testing.

Additionally, Ohio welcomed the TASC and HiSET that can be done both on paper and on a computer.

The HSE testing program is for adults who did not finish their high school curriculum.

This way, they are offered another chance to acquire an equivalent degree.

The GED contains four independent subtests in Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies that must be completed within a time restraint of two years.

TASC and HiSET have two Literacy subtests (writing and reading), so five overall, that can’t be done separately.

Tips for writing your GED essay

The GED program

In the United States, we see around 40 million people who quit high school prematurely and that don’t have a secondary education credential. Around 500,000 men and women complete the GED exam every year, and you could be one of them. Individuals who never completed high school now are able to acquire the Ohio High School Equivalence Diploma by completing the GED exam, and the GED diploma is accepted all across the United States as being of the same value as a regular high school diploma by employers, government agencies, and colleges, and universities.

The GED test is modular, meaning it is built up of four separate tests that can be taken individually. You are allowed two years to finish all four sub-tests, so get ready for one module, pass that section, and continue with the next part. You only need to pay for the section(s) that you register for. For efficient preparation, you may very well use this video program.

To learn all about the reduced passing score (to 145 in March 2016), check out this GED News post. Check out also this page that has links to all GED schools in the U.S.

Is the HSE exam available online?

No, you cannot take the GED, HiSET, or TASC online, despite all new technological developments and possibilities. You will need to come to an official test center if you want to earn your HSE diploma. When you come across a website that offers you the HSE diploma online, you can be certain the site is false, and the so-called “diplomas” that these sites issue, are worthless. Please be aware! Online preparation is perfectly fine, though, and this website offers several free practice tests for your GED as well.

*) Seeds of Literacy

Seeds of Literacy is an adult literacy program offering basic education and HSE preparation to adults in the Cleveland area totally free of charge. Seeds of Literacy offers a one-of-a-kind curriculum and individualized tutoring that results in maximum learning via establishing a relationship of trust between students and their teachers.

The organization brings together adults of various ethnic backgrounds to help break a root cause of poverty and illiteracy. Seeds of Literacy is serving more than one thousand applicants each year, more than most high school. The organization is accredited by ProLiteracy and won the Anisfield-Wolf Memorial Award for Outstanding Service in 2013. In June 2014, Seeds of Literacy received a $12,000 Grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
