It doesn’t matter when you left school.
The exams give adults that never graduated high school an extra chance to obtain an equivalent degree.
The tests are administered at a level similar to that of graduating HS seniors.
The entirely computerized-based GED® exam includes four tests in these subject fields: social studies, sciences, math, and language arts.
The four GED subtests can be taken separately. No requirement to sit for the four subtests (modules) all at once.
The HiSET® exam is offered both on paper and on a computer and includes five subject tests (individual reading and writing tests) that are available separately, too.
In earlier days, there was never an online testing possibility. You had to come in person to one of Wyoming’s official testing centers.
This has now changed with the launch of online HiSET and GED testing options. For more information, check the bottom of this page.

Launching Online GED And HiSET Testing Options
In the past, test-takers always had to sit for the HiSET or GED test in person at one of Wyoming’s state-recognized. official high school equivalency testing centers.
But that’s changed. Both exams have recently introduced online proctored options that allow qualifying HSE students to sit for the exam from the comfort of their homes. For more information about the online HiSET option, visit The online HiSET test, and for details about the online GED option, go to The online proctored GED exam.

Your Future
The state of Wyoming offers two alternatives for people wishing to earn their High School Equivalency diploma and have a fighting chance of securing a better job with decent wages or continuing their education in college or university.
The certificate that you will be awarded upon successful completion of the Wyoming HSE exam is accepted as equivalent to a standard high school diploma by official organizations, employers, and colleges and universities.
The GED (General Education Development) and HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) exams are developed for adults who did not complete high school and offer them another possibility to obtain an equivalent diploma.
Both options address elementary knowledge that students are taught in high school. The four tests of the GED exam are in the academic fields of Literacy, Social Studies, Math, and Science. The HiSET has separate English Reading and English Writing tests, so five overall.
