This article posts an overview of all GED® prep classes and testing centers in the Bismarck region. North Dakota uses the computer-formatted GED test for HSE (high school equivalency) testing.
The four GED subtests can be taken online or at one of North Dakota’s official GED test centers.
The HSE test provides adults who didn’t finish high school the chance to secure an equivalent diploma.
HSE testing happens at a level comparable to that of graduating high school students.
There are four independent GED modules or subtests in the fields of Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
The tests can be taken one (or more) at a time. There’s no need to sit for the entire GED exam in one take.
In the past, online GED testing was not possible. To take the exam, you needed to report to a state-approved testing site.
Now, this has changed with the launch of an online proctored GED testing option. Read more below.
North Dakota requires GED test takers to also pass a US Civics test.

Online GED testing option launched
Sitting for the GED test over the internet was, until recently, not an option. You were required to come personally to one of North Dakota’s state-designated GED testing sites if you wanted to acquire your GED degree.
Fortunately, all of that has changed now with the launch of the GED testing option in an online format. A proctor will oversee your online testing efforts and see if everything is done in line with the regulations. Check out the post ‘Introducing online GED testing’ if you want to learn more about this interesting development.
