GED Classes Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

This post lists all GED® prep class locations and testing sites in the Bethlehem region.

Pennsylvania offers two options to earn your HSE (high school equivalency) diploma, the GED and the HiSET.

The HSE test offers individuals who could not finish high school the chance to acquire an equivalent degree.

Both HSE exams measure proficiency at a level that compares to that of graduating HS seniors.

The GED exam is administered exclusively on a computer and has four separate subtests in literacy, math, science, and social studies.

You are given two years to deal with the entire GED battery. This applies only to the GED exam!

the HiSET is offered both on paper and on a computer and contains five tests (science, social studies, math, literacy-writing, and literacy-reading).

How to prepare for the GED or HiSET fast

The GED – what’s new

As of January 1, 2014, the GED battery of four tests is offered via computer testing only, and this is just one of the major changes. Until then, the exam was available in a paper-based format. The latest edition of the GED program replaced the 2002 version and the number of modules went from five to four. All the changes made some people very nervous, as they were told the new GED test would be more challenging, and all computer-based.

Online testing?

The GED exam is NOT available online, nor is the HiSET. You are required to show up at a state-designated GED testing center and sit for the four sub-tests in person. There are quite a few internet sites that promise the GED diploma, or the GED tests, via the internet, but online testing is not possible. These sites are run by con artists. Online prep courses are okay though so get all set fast via this website’s free online GED video program and practice tests.

The minimally required score on each of the GED subtests was lowered 5 points to 145 in March 2016. More details can be read in this GED Scoring News article. Online HiSET or GED testing is NOT possible. If you find a website that claims something different, you know this is false. You must personally come to a state-approved HSE testing site.

One GED test at a time

There is no need to take all four GED subtests in one time, you can take one part (or more if you like) by the time you are well-prepared, and your scores will be valid for a two-year period from your first registration. This only applies to the GED. Go to the page GED testing in Pennsylvania to see if you qualify for Pennsylvania’s HSE program. Check out also this post that has links to all GED prep sites and programs in the U.S.
