A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.

Until some years ago, online GED or HiSET testing was not possible. You were required to come in person to an official state-approved testing site.

That has changed with the introduction of online proctored HiSET and GED testing options. Read more below.

The GED and HiSET Subexams

GED testing involves four independent modules (separate subtests) that assess proficiency in these academic subject fields:

  • Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies

The HiSET has five modular subtests, as the Literacy Section comes with independent writing and reading tests.

Both exams measure knowledge at a level that compares to that of graduating high school seniors.

You can take the GED and HiSET subtests in any order you prefer and, if you wish, one at a time.

Online GED and HiSET Testing

Pennsylvania awards the Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma (CSSD) to students who successfully take the HiSET or GED high school equivalency exam. Both tests had to be taken in person at one of Pennsylvania’s official testing centers, but that’s no longer the case.

For more information on the online proctored HiSET testing option, check out this page: ‘Introducing the online HiSET exam.’

For more information about the online GED test, go to this page: ‘Welcoming the online proctored GED test.’
