GED Classes Albany, Georgia

Last Updated on April 10, 2024.

Listed here are all GED prep class sites and test centers in the Albany region. Georgia uses two options for High School Equivalency testing: the GED (General Education Development) and HiSET (High School Equivalency Test).

The assessments give adults who never completed high school the opportunity to obtain an equivalent diploma.

The GED® has four tests (modules) that measure a GED tester’s proficiency in:

  • Language Arts
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies

These four GED sub-exams can be taken individually and in any preferred order.

The HiSET® exam has individual writing and reading subject tests (so five in total) that can also be taken separately.

The GED and HiSET exams are now also offered online. It used to be that you had to go to a state-approved GED testing site and take the four subtests in person.

Now, however, with the introduction of online proctored GED and HiSET testing options, that has changed. Read more below.

The four GED and five HiSET subtests measure your skills and knowledge at a level similar to that of graduating high school students.

Online GED and HiSET Testing Options

In earlier days, taking the computer-based GED exam needed to be done at state-designated GED testing facilities. There was just no option to take the GED exam online. If you wanted to earn your Georgia GED diploma, your personal appearance was required to take and pass the four GED subtests.

Now, all of that has changed with the arrival of a new, online, proctored GED exam, and Georgia has also introduced the HiSET exam, which can be taken both on a computer and in a paper-based format. When using the online GED or HiSET format, an online proctor will guide you through the test-taking process and see if all happens according to the rules and regulations.

Check out this post: ‘Online GED testing option’ for more detailed online GED information, and for more details about the “HiSET-At-Home” exam, <- check here.
