The GED (General Education Development) exam measures academic proficiency at a level similar to that of HS students upon graduation.
New York was using the TASC exam for this purpose in the years 2014-2021, but that program was not continued. Earlier TASC passing scores are also good for the GED exam!
The GED exam is fully computerized and includes four modular subtests in
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
- English Language Literacy (reading and writing combined)
Our platform offers free GED online classes and practice tests that let you discover if online learning is right for you on your GED diploma journey.

GED Passing Score
The passing score on EACH of the four GED modules is 145 points. Averaging is NOT an option, so you’ll have to attain at least that score on each individual GED subtest.
Decent preparation is the key to success! When you use our free GED practice tests, you can discover which GED subject areas need your attention most.
The GED subtests are scored on a 100-200 scale, and there are four sections.
- 100-144: This is the GED Below-Passing Score. You’ll have to retake that part.
- 145-164: This is the GED High School Equivalent Score section.
- 165-174: This is the GED College-Ready Score.
- 175-200: This GED College-Ready Score will also get you up to ten college credits.
