  • Earth and Space Science, 20 percent

The GED Science test also includes Math-related questions. These questions are not difficult, but you should get familiar with solving equations, word problems, and manipulating formulas. Knowing how to use the TI-30XS scientific calculator will be helpful, too.

You are required to answer around 22 to 26 questions correctly to pass the GED Science test.

The best way to start is learning the lessons in the categories “Life Science” and “Physical Science” first because around 80 percent of all the questions in the Science Test of the GED exam are related to these subject fields.

Reading Graphs on the GED Science Test

Being successful on your GED Science test is, in large part, determined by the answer to one single question: Are you, as a test-taker, able to read charts or tables?

This is hugely important because, with data representations, test-takers who can’t read the table or graph may never even get around it to the text.

So with graphs, the key questions that students need to deal with are answering things such as “what exactly is an x-axis label? What exactly is a y-axis label? Are there other labels? Are there any keys? What relationship have the x-axis and the y-axis?”

Now, axes are those lines at the bottom of the side(s) of a graph. Axes may be very useful for figuring out the variable(s) and the control in, for example, an experiment.

By definition, graphs come with x-axes and y-axes. X-axes are the horizontal lines, usually at the graph’s bottom. Y-axes are the vertical lines, usually placed on the graph’s left side.

On the GED Science test, graphs may present or indicate units of measure for one of the axes next to the labels.

This is important because when dealing with data representation, you must know what they mean, stand for, and how it is all represented. If you don’t, you won’t be able to understand the text.

You must understand what is meant by an x-axis label, a y-axis label, and what other labels are there. Are there keys? What is the relationship between the x-axis and y-axis?

Simply put, axes are the lines at the bottom of the side of graphs. Axes are highly useful for figuring out variables and control numbers, for example, in experiments.

To summarize, the GED Science test is not difficult. Take a lot of practice tests to get familiar with the science questions, and you will be able to pass the test.
