Onsego and the CAEC Test Canada

Onsego moved the CAEC prep (the new Canadian High School Equivalency Test) to Cansego.ca.

While Onsego strongly focuses on online GED classes, Cansego.ca helps Canadian students prepare for and pass the new Canadian-made CAEC test.

The GED test is no longer available in Canada. It was replaced by the Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) in May 2024.

Today, CAEC preparation is offered through Cansego.ca, a separate platform created specifically for Canadian learners.

Onsego continues to provide online GED prep, focused on helping students earn a U.S. high school equivalency diploma.

Does Onsego Offer CAEC Prep?

What is the CAEC Test?

The CAEC is Canada’s new high school equivalency test. The Canadian-made CAEC assessment is available in English and French and consists of five modular sub-exams that can be written one at a time or more. The five modules cover these academic subject fields:

• Social Studies.

Is CAEC Prep the Same as GED Prep?

Is the GED Test Available in Canada?

Taking the CAEC Test in Canada

The CAEC test consists of five timed, modular exams. In participating provinces and territories, candidates must take the test at an official testing center. Online CAEC testing is not available.

The CAEC modules are timed as follows:

• Mathematics: Part 1 (no calculator) – 30 minutes; Part 2 (with calculator) – 90 minutes
• Science: 90 minutes
• Language Reading: 75 minutes
• Language Writing: 75 minutes
• Social Studies: 90 minutes

CAEC Passing Scores

To pass each CAEC subtest, candidates must answer at least 55% of the questions correctly.

The CAEC scoring levels are:

• 0–39%: Does Not Meet Minimum Standard (DMS)
• 40–54%: Approaching Minimum Standard (AS)
• 55–79%: Meets Minimum Standard (MS)
• 80–100%: Exceeds Minimum Standard (ES)

Test scores are usually available in your CAEC account within two business days, except for the Language Writing section, which may take up to 20 business days for scoring.
