GED Classes Lynn, Massachusetts

Last Updated on April 11, 2024.

This page lets you discover all GED prep sites and testing locations in the Lynn region. The diploma of high school equivalency is issued by Massachusetts to adults who have passed the GED or the HiSET exam.

Online GED Classes

A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.

Learn fast, stay motivated, and pass your GED quickly.

Both options can be taken at certified Massachusetts GED test centers only. The state has suspended online testing.

The exams offer people who could not complete their HS curriculum the opportunity to earn an equivalent degree.

The GED® includes four independent subtests (modules) covering

  • Social Studies
  • Math
  • Science
  • English Language Literacy

These fully computerized GED modules don’t need to be completed in one go. You can take them one at a time.

The HiSET® has five testing fields, as Literacy has separate reading and writing tests that you may also take individually.

Both exams measure basic knowledge that students usually learn in four years in high school.

The HiSET is available in both paper-based and computer-formatted versions.

Until recently, online GED and HiSET testing was not an option. That has changed now, as both tests now offer an online test-taking option. In Massachusetts, however, online testing was suspended.

Online HiSET and GED Testing

It used to be that you could not deal with the GED or HiSET exam in an online format. The exams had to be taken exclusively at state-designated testing centers. But now, we’ve seen the introduction of online testing formats for both the HiSET and GED exams in many states.

In Massachusetts, online testing has stopped, but perhaps you qualify to take the HiSET or GED exam online in a state other than Massachusetts without any residency requirement.

To read more about the new online ‘HiSET-At-Home’ exam, check out the following post: ‘The online HiSET test.’ For more information about the recently introduced GED online testing format, visit ‘Introducing the online GED exam.’

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education announced that the state covers the fees of the GED and HiSET exams. Check here for more details and to learn about promo codes.

Who Qualifies?

The HiSET or GED (General Education Development) test is developed for adults who have not completed high school and wish to obtain an equivalent credential.

The certificate/diploma that you will be given upon completing the Massachusetts HSE (High School Equivalency) exam is all over the nation recognized and accepted in the same way as a common high school diploma by government bodies, recruiters, employers, and colleges and universities.
