GED Exam – Useful Facts
The level of skills and knowledge needed to be successful at the GED exam may be compared to that of high school graduates.
The entire exam (four tests that can be taken separately within a 2-year time frame) is computer-based. All four tests are measured on a 100 – 200 points scale, and the minimum required number of points you need to score on each subtest is 145.
If your score is below 145, you usually can retake that test two times without a waiting period, but in case you need to take a third retest, the standard procedure is that you will need to wait 60 days before you can take the test again. Rules and regulations vary by state, though, so please check with a prep or testing center near you to be sure!
The four GED modules are in the academic fields of Social studies, Math, English Language Arts (Reading and Writing combined), and Science.
The GED program enables adult students to earn a credential equivalent to a high school diploma, and a few years way back, the GED went through the most significant overhaul in its seventy-year history.
There’s no need to prepare for all areas at the same time; you can prepare for and take one test at a time. Our free video preparation lessons and short practice questions may also help you get all set.
Taking a GED practice test will show you what subject areas you need to focus on most. See our GED Study Guide for proper test preparation, specific data, and conditions.
GED Diploma
The GED certificate or diploma (that depends on your state) is across the nation accepted as equivalent to a standard high school diploma by practically every employer or institution of higher education.
You have the option to take one of the four tests at a time. You can view your test results right after testing. Our support is also pretty good for students wishing to improve their SAT and ACT scores.
Prepare for one test, pass it, and move ahead toward the next test. Your test prep can now be done this way, as you can take the four modules one at a time. This change is actually one of the greatest improvements in the GED exam.
