The GED exam measures a student’s proficiency at the same level as may be expected of a high school graduate.
The GED test is a set of four individual subtests that may be completed one subtest at a time. These four subtests (independent modules) measure knowledge and skills in the following fields:
- Social Studies
- Mathematics
- Science
- Language Arts

Introducing Online GED Testing
It used to be that the GED exam was exclusively available at official, state-approved Texas high school equivalency (HSE) test centers. Online testing was never possible, and your personal appearance was required. Well, this has changed now with the introduction of an online proctored GED testing option.
If you want to learn more about the new online proctored GED test, visit Introducing the online GED test.

Your Future
The GED program is geared towards adults who have not completed their common high school education. The program allows them to acquire a diploma that is, all over North America, regarded as equivalent to a standard high school credential by institutions of higher education and employers.
The Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE) is your ticket to continued education and is sure to result in far better employment options.
So there is, again, one high school equivalency test available in Texas, the GED (General Education Development). After successfully taking the four GED tests, students will be awarded the Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency.
