What’s on the GED and HiSET Exams
GED® testing needs to be done through four individual modules (subtests) assessing a student’s proficiency in these subjects:
- Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
You have the option to sit for the four GED modules one at a time and in any order.
The HiSET contains five subtests, as the Literacy section comes with separate writing and reading tests. These modules may be dealt with separately as well.
Since the four GED or five HiSET modules can be taken one or more at a time, you can prepare and pay for one subtest, pass that section, and move ahead to the next subject test.
Both exams measure knowledge at a level comparable to that of high schoolers upon graduation. The GED must be done entirely on a computer, whereas the HiSET is offered both on a computer and on paper.

Now it’s Your Turn!
There are many reasons why people did not finish high school. Maybe you had to leave high school early because of family circumstances, and you needed to be there for them during difficult times or to help them raise a child.
Maybe you felt you just didn’t “fit in” at the school you attended, or maybe you thought you wouldn’t need a high school diploma for the path you wanted to take.
But now, as you don’t have it, you may understand the importance of a high school diploma for your personal development.
Every year, over five hundred thousand people receive their High School Equivalency Diploma, and now it’s your turn.
Online HiSET and GED Testing
Students looking to secure their Colorado high school equivalency diploma can sit for the GED and HiSET exams via the Internet as well.
In earlier times, to get a GED diploma, test-takers had to show up and take the exam at one of Colorado’s state-approved testing sites.
Well, that all changed some years ago. Both the HiSET and the GED are available online as well.
For more information on the online GED test, check out: The Online Proctored GED Test.
To learn more about the online HiSET exam, go to: The Online Proctored HiSET Test.
To qualify for taking the GED exam online, you must first have reached sufficient results on the official GED Ready practice test.
For each GED module (independent sub-exam), there’s a GED Ready practice test available on GED.com for $7.99 each. So, that will add $32 to your total Colorado GED testing fees.
Free GED Ready Tests
If you prepare for the GED test with one of Onsego’s Advantage Plans, you will receive vouchers for four GED Ready tests for free. That’s part of these plans, a fantastic $32 bonus.
These Advantage Plans are very affordable, starting at $79 for the 6-month plan, and they include free GED Ready vouchers, full access to study materials from day 1, highly effective support courses, and much more.
