GED Classes Zanesville, Ohio

This page includes a full listing of GED® prep locations and testing sites in the Zanesville area. In Ohio, you have two options for HSE (high school equivalency) testing, the GED and HiSET exams.

HiSET and GED testing can be done online or at official Ohio HSE test centers.

HSE testing is for persons who quit high school before graduating and gives them the opportunity to earn an equivalent credential.

HSE testing occurs at a level similar to what students are required to command when they graduate high school.

The GED is fully computerized and includes four testing fields: Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

You have the option to sit for the four GED subtests one at a time. The HiSET subtests may also be dealt with separately.

The HiSET exam includes five subtests. Their Literacy section has separate tests in writing and reading.

In earlier days, taking the HSE exam over the internet was never possible. But now, we have seen the launch of both an online HiSET and GED testing option. Learn more at the bottom of this post.

GED vs. HiSET

The GED – Who is it for?

The GED (General Education Development) test is intended for adults who don’t have a high school diploma, and who would like to get a comparable diploma. The certificate that you are given upon completing the Ohio GED exam is generally accepted as equivalent to a high school diploma by all US government institutions, businesses, and institutions of higher education.

The GED exam focuses on primary knowledge that high school students must command upon graduation. No longer is there any need to take all four GED tests (modules) in one session. You have the option to prepare and pay for one of the four tests at a time. So prepare for one test, pass that section, and go on to the next subtest.

Welcoming online HiSET and GED options

It used to be that students looking to earn a high school equivalency diploma always had to show up personally at an official Ohio HSE testing facility. Online testing was simply never offered. But now, we’ve seen the introduction of both a GED and a HiSET online testing option.

To learn more about the recently introduced HiSET online proctored testing option, go to this article: ‘The introduction of an online HiSET testing option’, and for more information on the newly launched online proctored GED test option, check out this post: ‘Introducing a new online proctored GED test’.
