The HiSET® and GED® exams are available in an online format and at official test facilities.

The exams are for persons who quit high school without graduating and offer them the possibility to acquire an equivalent credential.

The GED must be done on a computer and has four individual subtests in Math, Science, Literacy, and Social Studies.

You have the option to prepare and sit for one GED subject test at a time; no need to do it all in one take.

The HiSET includes five subtests that can also be taken separately as well. The Literacy section has individual reading and writing tests.

Launching Online GED And HiSET Options

It used to be that students who wanted to get hold of their Ohio high school equivalency credentials always needed to show up in person, at one of the state’s official HSE testing facilities. There was simply never an online option. Now, however, we’ve witnessed the introduction of both HiSET and GED online testing options.

Students looking for more information about the newly introduced online HiSET proctored exam can go to this post: ‘The online HiSET exam,’ and to read more about the online GED testing option, check out ‘Introducing the online GED test.’

What Is The GED Credential?

The diploma or certificate that you are awarded after passing the Ohio GED test is all over America accepted as the equivalency to a regular HS diploma by virtually all governmental organizations, businesses, colleges, and universities.

If you pass the GED (a set of four separate tests), you will receive a credential that is commonly regarded as equivalent to a standard high school diploma. Having said that, the requirements to get the GED credential are hugely different than for acquiring a high school diploma. Holding a GED will result in improved employment opportunities and is the ticket to higher education.

The GED exam is for adults who are at least 18 years old, but in Ohio, age waivers are available for candidates aged 16 and 17 years old who are not signed up for any secondary education program.

Go to GED.com for comprehensive information on everything related to the GED, including age and fee waivers, preparation classes, transcripts and diplomas, and a lot of other useful details. Sign up with MyGED to discover an online portal that guides you through the entire process and offers you information on (re)scheduling, school profiles, employment market developments, and much more.
