GED Classes Terre Haute, Indiana

This post lists all GED® (TASC in Indiana) class locations and testing sites in the Terre Haute area.

Indiana decided to use the TASC for high school equivalency (HSE) testing.

The HSE program gives persons who never graduated high school another possibility to obtain an equivalent degree.

The HSE test assesses proficiency at a similar level as what HS grads must know.

The TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) includes five modular tests in Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies.

The GED and TASC are NOT available online. You must come to an official Indiana TASC testing site and sit for the exam in person.

Who is the GED (TASC) for?

Indiana said goodbye to the GED and uses the TASC for its High School Equivalency (HSE) testing program. The GED had become rather expensive and was available only in a computer-based format while the TASC  (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) can be taken both on paper and in a computerized format.

The High School Equivalency (HSE) program is intended to support adults who never finished high school in their efforts to improve their job options and gives them the chance to get into college and universities. There still are some forty million persons in the U.S. who never completed high school, and the HSE program is especially for them. Having the Indiana HSE diploma will surely result in better job opportunities and allows for a college education.

Is the GED or TASC available online?

The simple answer is: NO. There are now three different high school equivalency testing programs available in the U.S. (GED, HiSET, and TASC), and none of these exams is offered via the internet. Beware of fraudulent internet sites where online so-called ‘ GED or TASC diplomas’ are offered. These sites only want to steal your money and their documents have no value whatsoever. If you want to get your high school equivalency diploma, you are required to show up in person at a state-approved testing center.

*) Sisters of Providence

Sisters of Providence Educational/Family Services (Guerin Outreach Ministries) is situated at 3850 U.S. Highway 150, West Terre Haute, and the agency offers basic education and TASC preparation classes to adults who never finished high school. Classes are tutored by volunteers from the community, students from nearby colleges, and retired Sisters of Providence

These TASC prep classes are available at no cost to residents of West Terre Haute and nearby communities. The educational program is supported by the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, and the program was launched in 1996.
