This is an overview of all GED® prep facilities and testing centers in and around Sterling. Colorado offers two options for high school equivalency (HSE) testing, the GED and HiSET® exams.
Both the HiSET and GED are available online and at certified test centers. Read more below about online HiSET and GED testing.
The GED can be done exclusively on a computer whereas the HiSET is offered both on-computer and on-paper.
The HSE exam is for persons who never completed high school and gives them the opportunity to acquire an equivalent credential.
The GED exam has four individual modules, or subtests, that can be taken separately.
The four tests are in Social Studies, Language (Reasoning through Language Arts), Science, and Math (Mathematical Reasoning).
The HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) has five subtests (Language has separate writing and reading sections) that may be taken separately as well.

Online proctored GED or HiSET testing
Today, students looking to earn their HSE diploma can take the HiSET and GED tests also via the internet. In the past, they had to come to an official, state-approved Colorado GED testing site and sit for the exam in-person.
Well, that has now totally changed. The GED and HiSET exams introduced online versions with there use of an online proctor. More information is found in these posts: online proctored GED testing, and for HiSET testing: online proctored HiSET testing.
GED qualification criteria
To qualify for taking the GED test in Colorado, test-takers need to be at least 17 years old, not currently be signed up for high school, and not have earlier received a secondary education credential.
Students 16 years old can apply for an Age Waiver if the GED diploma is necessary for them to go on with their education or when it is needed to meet other requirements. The GED diploma is all across North America accepted just like a standard high school diploma.
GED passing score & cost
To pass the GED exam, candidates must reach 145 on each subject so an overall score of no less than 580 is needed. The cost of all four GED tests is $150 in Colorado, each test is $37.50.
You can sit for 1 test at a time and only pay for that test, or – if you wish – take the whole exam on one day if a test center can accommodate you. This also counts for the HiSET exam that is slightly cheaper than the GED.
