Social Studies Practice Test
These practice tests are developed to assist you in taking the GED® test Social Studies successfully.
The GED Social Study Test includes the following major topics: civics and government (~50% of the test), United States history (~20% of the test), economics (~15% of the test), and geography and the world (~15% of the test). The Social Studies section must be completed in about 70 minutes.
During the test, your problem-solving skills will be measured. So check what you know by taking one of the practice tests.
GED Social Studies Sets of 25 Questions
The questions come in various forms such as drag and drop, multiple choice, fill in the blank, and hot spot. The test includes one “extended response” question which requires test-takers to analyze different arguments and come up with answers based on evidence in the text.

The Social Studies test is covering four major domains, Geography & the World, Economics, U.S. & World History, and Civics & Government.

Keep in mind: if you are getting ready for the GED® exam, you are required to understand also the basics and vocabulary of Economics. In the world we can see three key economic systems: communism, socialism, and capitalism, so the GED Social Studies test also includes questions on how these systems are different or similar. You must get familiar with terms like the command economy, traditional economy, or market economy (relating to communism, socialism, and capitalism). You additionally can expect questions about, for example, the G8 or the European Union or other groups of countries that cooperate for economic reasons. The most recent version of the GED® exam became effective on January 1, 2014, and is completely computer-formatted. The four GED tests measure the fundamental knowledge and skills required to have a successful career or be ready for a college education. The GED credential is nationwide recognized as equivalent to a standard high school diploma.
The GED exam includes four separate tests (modules) that may be taken independently within a two-year period. The four tests are on the basic academic fields of Science, Math (mathematical reasoning), Literacy (RLA-reasoning through language arts), and Social Studies. Holders of the GED diploma have demonstrated that they master the skills and knowledge at a level that may be expected of graduating high school seniors. About one out of seven US adults that hold a secondary education credential has earned their diploma through the GED Program.
