This page contains a complete overview of GED® prep sites and testing facilities in the Silver Spring area. Maryland is using the completely computerized GED test for its high school equivalency (HSE) testing program.
You can sit for the GED test in an online format and at state-designated GED test centers.
The GED exam provides adults who never completed high school with the chance to earn an equivalent degree.
The GED test comes with four individual subtests (modules) in Literacy, Social Studies, Science, and Math.
You can register and pay for one of the four GED modules at a time. You don’t have to take all four tests in one session.
Testing (fully computerized) happens at a level comparable to that of graduating HS seniors.
Until recently, online GED testing had never been available, but the arrival of a new online GED testing option has changed all of that. Learn more below.

New GED online test-taking option
Until recently, there was no option to take the four GED modules via the internet. To earn your Maryland GED diploma, you were required to come personally to an official Maryland GED testing facility.
But recently, that has with the arrival of a new online GED testing option. You must have a good internet connection and an online proctor oversees your test-taking activities and checks if you do it all in accordance with the rules. Visit this page, ‘Online GED testing option introduced,’ to learn more.
Your future
The four GED subtests are in Social Studies (70 minutes), Science (90 minutes), Mathematical Reasoning (115 minutes), and Reasoning through Language Arts (150 minutes). The passing score for each subject test is 145. You can sit for the entire GED battery (four modules) if you wish for $45 or take one module at a time for $11.25 each.
How Hard Is The GED Test?To see if you can enroll in the GED program, check out the page GED testing in Maryland.
The GED exam is a computer-based test and the GED degree is recognized across North America and accepted by practically all colleges, employers, and the military services. The GED diploma is equivalent to a Maryland high school diploma. The GED consists of four subtests that measure academic skills and knowledge that commonly are learned during four years of high school.
