Revising and Editing

After we’ve written our rough draft, it’s key that we read back over our paper and start improving it. So we will revise and edit our paper to make it much better.

If we want to make our paper better, we’ll need to read the entire paper again.

we’ll need to go over every single paragraph in our paper and reread everything we’ve already written.

Now, what should we be looking for? Well, we need to check our paper for errors in punctuation and spelling.

When we’ll be checking for errors in punctuation and spelling, we’ll be improving our writing.

The 2nd thing we need to be looking for is the paragraph structure. In some circumstances, we may see a paragraph that’s pretty long so we might have to cut that one into two separate paragraphs. Perhaps you may want to rearrange your paragraph order to help make your writing more sense.

The 3rd thing we should do is to make sure our writing is clear. We need to produce a paper with clear writing. We don’t want our reader to need to ask what something means. We want our writing to speak clearly and for itself. We need to make it easy to understand and very clear.

So an important thing to do is making sure our writing is very clear and we might also want to check if perhaps something should be taken out or added.

The 4th thing is that we want to have a natural flow in our writing. We don’t want our readers to need to keep bouncing around our paper. We want our paper to have a natural flow and avoid the readers to have to reread things in order to understand what we’re saying.

The following point is that we want to check for our supporting details. It’s not sufficient to have just an opinion. We need to come up with some details that will back up our opinion. If we bring up an idea, we should also come up with enough details to support this idea.

Finally, we should reread our draft. So, we initially wrote our paper, and then we read it again and checked it for all sorts of errors. And now, we want to reread one more time. In other words, we will revise and edit our paper twice because, at times, we’ll be noticing something this second time that we hadn’t noticed our first time.

So make the changes as they are needed, Then, make sure your essay and the purpose are written clearly.
