The transcript is provided for your convenience.
You need to look over every single paragraph to reread everything that you’ve written.
So, what do you need to look for? So, you need to check for errors in spelling and punctuation.
So, by checking for errors in spelling and punctuation, you’re going to be improving your writing.
The second thing you need to look for is to look at paragraph structure. So, in some circumstances, you may come across a paragraph that’s really long, and so, you might need to cut that paragraph into two paragraphs. Or you may need to rearrange the order of paragraphs to help make the writing make more sense.
A third thing you need to do is make sure the writing is clear. You want to look for clear writing. You don’t want the reader to have to ask what does this mean. You want the writing to speak for itself, making it very clear and easy to understand.
So, one thing you may need to do to make sure your writing is clear is you might need to check if something has to be added or taken out.
The fourth thing is you want there to be a natural flow in your writing. You don’t want the reader to have to keep bouncing around your paper, rereading things to understand what you’re saying because you want there to be a natural flow. You want the writing to progress easily and naturally.
The next point is you want to check for supporting details. In other words, it’s not enough just to have an opinion. You need to have some details to back up that opinion. Any ideas that are brought up should have enough support behind them.
Then finally, you need to reread the draft. So, you initially wrote this paper, and then you read it again to check for all these errors. And then, you want to reread it a second time. In other words, you want to revise and edit it twice because sometimes, you’re going to notice something the second time that you would’ve not noticed the first time.
So, you want to make the changes that are needed, and then make sure the purpose of the writing is clear.
