In this post, we list all GED® prep facilities and testing centers in the Orangeburg region.
South Carolina is using the computer-formatted GED exam for HSE (high school equivalency) testing.
Additionally, the state embraced the TASC™ alternative which is available on-computer and on-paper.
The HSE exam is for persons who don’t have a high school diploma and provides them with the opportunity to acquire an equivalent degree.
The GED contains four modules (separate subtests) in Language, Math, Science, and Social Studies that must be finished within a 2-year period of time.
The TASC has separate Language Reading and Language Writing tests, so five in total, that can also be taken separately.
To sit for the test, personal appearance at an official South Carolina test center is required. There is NO online test option!

HSE diploma acceptance
After successful completing of the GED (General Education Development) or TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) exam, you will be awarded to High School Equivalency Diploma, a credential that is all over North America recognized and accepted just like a common high school diploma by employers, official institutions, recruiting agencies, and academic institution. Check out also this great help that’s provided by this website: online video lessons and free practice tests, and maybe you also want to take look at this post that has links to all GED prep facilities in the U.S.
What’s the GED exam like?
To remain credible as high school equivalency, the GED exam was brought in line with new academic standards and up to par with industry requirements. Most significantly, the GED has become an entirely ‘digitalized’ testing model. Now, the GED exam leads to the development of the knowledge and skills that are wanted by employers. Students will be optimally prepared for the drastically changing employment market. To learn if you qualify for the HSE program visit GED Program in South Carolina.
Registration is now much easier, everything is done online, but applicants should be aware that to take the exam, they still should go to a GED testing site and bring a valid photo ID. Another huge improvement is that students now have the opportunity to check their results right after they took the exam. If you want to learn all about the adjusted GED passing score, which was lowered five points to 145 points, please go to this GED Passing Score News article.
GED and the economy
Right now in America, there are not enough adults that possess the needed competencies or knowledge to fill available and vacant jobs, to be precise, there are over 4 million available jobs. The new GED exam centers on analytical and critical thinking skills and problem-solving capacities. You now can register with MyGED at GED.com, and register, schedule, and pay for just the part(s) of the GED exam that you are prepared to take.
The GED program can be useful to deal with this economic requirement by opening doors to a college education, apprenticeships and job training for many millions of adult students. The GED program is the pathway that many adults need to boost their skills and knowledge, to fill these jobs, and to better take care of their families, and build a better future.
The GED exam is aligned with contemporary high school standards expectations and demands of employers and colleges and universities. The GED exam is delivered only on approved testing center computers, providing consistent testing experiences all across the nation, and has significantly improved the passing rates.
