There are four GED subtests (modules) in literacy, social studies, math, and science that must be completed within two years.

Online GED testing is not possible. You are required to show up in person at one of Arizona’s official testing centers.

In Arizona, GED testers are additionally required to pass the state’s Civics test if they want to acquire their HSE diploma.

*) Hope for You Lutheran Church (Rio Rico) and First Baptist Church (Nogales)

GED applicants don’t need to worry about the state cutting funds for adult education at Hope for You Lutheran Church in Rio Rico and First Baptist Church in Nogales. Hope for You Lutheran Church in Rio Rico started providing free GED prep classes in 2009 when the church obtained GED books. There was a great need for this kind of education, according to Art Seaman, an elder and retired junior high school teacher.

It wasn’t long before First Baptist Church joined the effort and brought in a few skilled volunteers. This adult education program is a combined operation of the churches and is done without any funds from the government. The churches offer GED classes on Monday and Wednesday, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Students of all ages and walks of life come here to get ready for the GED exam, but there are relatively many women aged 35 and up.
