The state additionally approved an alternative test to be used for this purpose, the HiSET exam. This option is offered both on a computer and in a paper-based format.
The GED® and HiSET® tests can be done online and at state-approved test centers.
The exams are geared towards adult persons who did not complete high school and give them another chance to acquire an equivalent degree.
The GED exam has four separate subtests (modules) in Literacy, Science, Math, and Social Studies that don’t need to be completed in one take.
The HiSET has five subtests, as the Language parts have separate writing and reading tests that can also be taken separately.
Until recently, there was no possibility to take the HiSET or GED exam online, but now, we’ve seen the introduction of both the online proctored (OP) HiSET and GED testing options. Read more below.

Until recently, there never had been any possibility of taking the GED or HiSET exam online. You had to take the HSE tests at an official Mississippi testing location, but now, the GED and HiSET exams have also become available over the Internet.
