This page includes an overview of all GED® prep sites and testing locations in the Manhattan, Kansas region. Kansas uses the computer-based GED exam for its high school equivalency (HSE) testing program.
The GED exam is given at state-approved testing centers and in an online format.
The HSE exam is for individuals who never graduated from high school. This way, they can secure a credential that’s equivalent to a common HS diploma.
The GED is fully computerized and comes with four independent subtests in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Literacy.
The GED exam measures knowledge and skills at a level that’s similar to what graduating HS students must command upon graduation.
You can sit for one GED subtest at a time. There’s no requirement to sit for the entire GED battery in one take.
It used to be that, to sit for the GED tests, you had to come to an official test center and take the four subtests in person. There was no online GED testing option.
Well, that has now changed with the introduction of an online proctored GED testing possibility. Read more below.
The GED diploma is all over America accepted in the same way as a conventional HS degree by employers and post-secondary institutions.

Online GED test option introduced
In the past, GED testing was not available via the internet. If you wished to acquire a Kansas GED diploma, personal appearance at an official state-designated testing site was required. Well, that has changed.
The GED exam is now also available in an online version, using a proctor to help you with the online test-taking process and to check if you do it conform to regulations. Read more in this article: ‘Online GED testing introduced’.
The GED exam offers individuals who never finished high school the opportunity to obtain a credential that is nationally recognized as equivalent to a standard high school. The GED exam measures knowledge, proficiency, and skills at a level that is expected of high school graduates.
The four individual GED tests are set at a level that only some 60 percent of high school graduates would pass on the first attempt. The GED exam is no longer offered on paper, all must be done on a computer, which is understandable as nowadays you can hardly find a job that does not require some sort of computer literacy.
