The exam offers people who did not graduate high school the chance to earn an equivalent degree.

The GED® test contains four subtests that cover the fields of Science, Literacy, Social Studies, and Math.

These subtests (or modules) don’t need to be taken at the same time; you can prepare for and take one at a time.

The GED exam is quite challenging. It takes place at a level that compares to what graduating high school seniors must command.

Until recently, there was no online GED test. You were required to come to a state-approved Wisconsin GED test center to sit for the four subtests in person.

Well, that has changed now with the introduction of the online proctored GED testing option. Learn more below.

Wisconsin GED test-takers must take and pass a 100-question Civics exam as well.

Welcoming Online GED Testing

You could, until recently, never sit for the four GED subtests on the internet. Students who were looking to earn their GED degrees were required to show up, in person, at one of Wisconsin’s state-recognized GED testing facilities.

This has now come to an end with the launch of an online option to deal with the GED exam. Qualifying students that opt to take the GED test online will see that an online proctor monitors their activities to guarantee that all is happening in accordance with the rules. If you want to learn more about this great new online option, go to Welcoming the online GED test.

Your Future

GED stands for General Education Development, and the diploma that you will receive upon successfully taking the four tests is equivalent to a high school diploma and accepted as such by practically all U.S. employers and schools. This is your ticket to higher education and a brighter future.

GED Passing Score

The GED exam can be taken in English or Spanish. Please note that online GED testing is NOT possible. Your personal appearance at an official test site is required. The passing score on each of the four subtests is 145 points. GED scoring is measured on a 100-200 scale. The minimally required on each subtest is 145, so your overall score cannot be under 580.

100-144: below passing
145-164: high school equivalency
165-174: college-ready
175-200: college-ready + college credit

Online Registration

Some advantages of the GED test are obvious. The registration process is simplified; you do it online, just like making payments. There is no requirement to pay for the entire test (4 subjects) at one time; you only need to pay for the subject(s) you register for.

You can just sit for that subject test that you are well prepared for. To register online, you go to GED.com or call 1-877-392-6433.

Your test scores will be returned within 3 hours after you completed the test module(s), except for the essay part. Register with MyGED and discover a world of information about the course itself, test scheduling, college profiling, work trends and opportunities, and so forth.
