This page includes a complete overview of GED® prep locations and test centers in and around Hampton. Virginia is using the entirely computer-based GED test for HSE (high school equivalency) testing.
GED testing can be done online and at state-recognized GED test centers.
The GED program gives adults who were not able to finish their HS education the chance to earn an equivalent degree.
The GED test comes with four separate modules (subtests) in the fields of Science, Literacy, Social Studies, and Math.
GED testing happens at a level that compares to what high school seniors must know upon graduation.
It used to be that the GED test was not available over the internet. You had to present yourself at an official and state-approved GED testing center.
This has now changed, however, with the launch of an online proctored GED testing option. Learn more below.

Your future
The GED (General Education Development) test is especially for adults who did not finish their high school education. The four-test exam, when taken successfully, will result in a credential that is all across North America recognized just like a common high school diploma and accepted as such by institutions of higher education, recruiting agencies, and employers.
The GED program allows you to take one of the four modules (subtests) at a time. To register for the GED tests, sign up with MyGED (at the website GED.com) and set up your account. Here you can pay for and schedule your test(s). This is a great website that takes you through the entire process step-by-step.
Launching the online proctored GED test
In the past, you could not take the GED test in an online format. To secure a Virginia GED diploma, you always needed to present yourself at one of Virginia’s official, state-approved GED testing centers.
Recently, however, this has changed as we witnessed the launch of an online GED testing option. If you qualify, you now can also take the GED exam in an online format from the comfort of your home. An online proctor will oversee your activities and check if they are in accordance with the rules and regulations. If you want to learn more about this interesting development, visit Welcoming online proctored GED testing.
