This post contains a complete listing of GED® prep locations and testing sites in the Greenwood region. South Carolina uses the GED test for its high school equivalency (HSE) testing program.
GED testing can be done both online and at one of South Carolina’s official test centers.
The HSE program is for people who never graduated high school and offers them the opportunity to earn an equivalent degree.
The GED has four modules (subtests) in Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math that may be dealt with one subtest at a time.
The GED is offered exclusively in a computer-based format; paper-based testing is a thing of the past.
Recently, there was the introduction of an online GED testing option. Read more below at the bottom of this page.

The diploma that you will receive upon completing the GED (General Education Development) exam successfully is accepted just like a common HS diploma by employers, educational institutions, and recruiting agencies. Great and free support is also available through this website.
The GED test measures general knowledge and thinking skills at the level of high school graduates. The GED is made up of four independent subtests that cover these subject fields: Literacy, Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies. The GED must be taken on a computer.
Launching the online proctored GED test
In the past, taking the GED exam online was never an option. If you were looking to acquire your high school equivalency diploma, you needed to come personally to an official South Carolina HSE testing facility.
But now, we’ve witnessed the introduction of an online proctored GED test-taking option, so that’s changed. For more information, check out ‘Launching an online proctored GED testing option’.
