GED Improvements
The latest version of the GED exam has fewer multiple-choice questions than former editions. Answers need to be given more in essay style, and herein lies the reason that the former writing test has disappeared. Writing skills can be assessed through the other subtests.
Paper-based GED testing has disappeared completely; all subtests are done on a computer, so basic keyboarding skills are required as well. Test results will be available right after testing, except for the essay part, which will need a few days to be processed.
This really is a great improvement compared to former days when test-takers needed to wait several weeks to learn if they passed. The HiSET exam is still available in both a paper-based and computerized format.
