Study GED for the GED Test in Florida

For who is the GED exam?

The GED (General Education Development) program is developed for adults who never finished high school, and who would like to get an equivalent diploma. The certificate or diploma that you will be awarded upon successful completion of the Florida GED test is recognized as similar to a normal high school diploma and accepted by the vast majority official institutions, businesses, and universities.

GED registration

If you go to the GED organization’s website you will be completely informed on all aspects that relate to the GED program: GED.com. You will have to register with MyGED in order to make your account so you can register, schedule tests, and get informed on post-secondary education possibilities and career pathways.

The GED price tag

The GED exam is fully computer-based and costs $128 ($32 per test), and is brought in line with the Common Core standards, adopted and implemented by most states. The exam allows candidates to earn their high school equivalency credential and assesses their career- and college-readiness.

GED passing score

Students who pass the set of four tests will receive the Florida High School Diploma. Applicants must now attain a score of 145 or above on each test, so at least 580 points or more in total to succeed. The four tests are Literacy, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.

GED and the economy

Today, we can see more than 4,2 million available but unfilled jobs in America. These jobs practically all demand a high school or GED diploma but cannot be filled because our country doesn’t produce sufficient qualified people. Get your GED diploma end land one of these good-paying jobs!

You most likely are aware that GED Testing Service (a joint venture of the American Council on Education and for-profit testing company Pearson VUE)  released a totally overhauled version of the GED program some years ago. Testing at designated test sites has not changed, but for everything else, ‘digitalization’ is now dominating the entire program.

GED qualification requirements

You can take the GED set of 4 tests if you are a Florida resident who is 18 or older, who does not already have a secondary credential and who is currently not enrolled in a school program. Many community colleges and private organizations offer classes that will help you pass the General Education Development (GED ) exam.

GED – what’s new

The most recent version of the GED exam is computer-administrated only and includes the 4 test sections of Reasoning through Language Arts (150 min), Social Studies (70 min), Science (90 min), and Mathematical Reasoning (115 min). In order to register for the exam, you must go to GED.com and create your account at MyGED to discover a great portal that takes you through all processes step-by-step.

You need to have an e-mail account, a major credit card or debit card, a Social Security number, and a valid government-issued ID. You can take (and pay for) the entire battery of four tests, or choose to just take one module (test) at a time, and pay for one only as well.
