This is an overview of GED® prep locations and testing sites in and around Bellevue. Washington State welcomed the GED exam for the purpose of HSE (high school equivalency) testing.
The GED exam is given at state-approved test centers and online.
The HSE program offers individuals who haven’t finished high school another shot at securing an equivalent degree.
The GED measures basic skills and knowledge at a level that may be expected of graduating high school students.
The exam has four individual computer-based subtests that cover the academic fields of literacy, math, science, and social studies.
You have the liberty to sit for one of the four GED subtests at a time. Completion doesn’t need to be done in one take.
It used to be that online GED testing was no option. You needed to show up at an official Washington GED test site.
Now, that has changed with the introduction of an online GED test-taking option. Check below for more details.

Who is the GED exam for?
Who is allowed to take the GED exam? Washington state’s eligibility requirements include that you have not graduated from an acknowledged high school or that you hold a high school equivalency diploma. You cannot be engaged in a regular high school program and are no younger than 16.
In case you are younger than 19, you need to have an ‘Approval to Test’ form issued by the high school you last attended or an official and notarized form in case you were home-schooled. You must be able to show proof of Washington residency.
GED passing score
Candidates will earn the GED diploma if they attain a score of no less than 145 points on each individual test (so a total score of at least 580 points). Scores range from 100 points to 200 for each test, and the passing score is set in a way that only 60% of high school seniors would pass the GED tests on their first try.
Introducing the online proctored GED test
In the past, the GED test was not offered over the internet. Test-takers looking to obtain their GED diplomas needed to come in-person to an official, state-designated Washington GED testing facility.
Well, that’s changed as we saw the launch of an online GED testing option. A proctor will check online if the test-takers act in accordance with the rules. To get more information about this great development, check out the following post: Introducing the online GED exam.
