Washington State welcomed the GED exam for the purpose of HSE (high school equivalency) testing.

The GED exam

The GED exam had a brand new start a few years way back. The latest edition of the GED exam is entirely computer-based, but cannot be taken online, you must go to an official Washington test site and sit for the four subtests (one at a time if you wish) in person.

State requirements

Who is allowed to take the GED exam? Washington state’s eligibility requirements include that you have not graduated from an acknowledged high school or that you hold a high school equivalency diploma. You cannot be engaged in a regular high school program and are no younger than 16. In case you are younger than 19, you need to have an ‘Approval to Test’ form issued by the high school you last attended or an official and notarized form in case you were home-schooled. You must be able to show proof of Washington residency.
