On this page, you can find all GED prep class locations and test centers in the Appleton area. In Wisconsin, you must pass the GED exam to earn a High School Equivalency diploma.

The GED test is given online and at certified GED test centers. The exam offers adults who never graduated from high school the chance to acquire an equivalent degree.

Testing takes place at a level that’s comparable to that of a graduating HS student.

The GED® exam comes with four independent tests (modules) that assess knowledge of

• Math
• Language Arts
• Science
• Social Studies

You don’t need to take all four GED subtests in a row. You can take one subtest at a time if you wish. GED test-takers must also pass a Civics Exam in Wisconsin.

The GED is a fully computerized exam. There’s no more paper-based testing possibility.

Introducing Online GED Testing

Until recently, GED testing was not possible on the Internet. Students who wanted to earn a GED diploma were required to show up in person, at one of Wisconsin’s official GED test facilities.

For over 75 years, the GED exam has not only offered a means to acquire personal satisfaction but also played an important role in the realization of educational and professional goals for millions of Americans who, for many reasons, never completed their standard high school education.

The GED exam is an alternative way for adults to demonstrate that they have the equivalent knowledge and skills of someone who did complete high school.

Virtually all colleges and universities are accepting GED score reports in lieu of high school transcripts. To be eligible for federal financial support, students are required to have completed their high school education, earned a GED credential, or show Ability to Benefit. The GED diploma is also accepted by practically all employers.
